NOTICES OF PROPOSED RULES (The date in parentheses is the date the rules were filed in the Legislative Research Council):

Department of Commerce and Regulation: Board of Social Work Examiners (January 29, 1998) intends to adopt a rule to require applicants for examination and reexamination to pay the examination fees directly to the national examination company. The general authority for this rule, as cited by the agency, is SDCL 36-26-19.

A public hearing will be held on March 20, 1998, at 11:00 a.m., MST, at the Casey Family Program, 2920 Sheridan Lake Road, Rapid City. Written comments may be sent to the South Dakota Board of Social Work Examiners, 135 East Illinois, Suite 214, Spearfish, South Dakota 57783, but must be received by March 18, 1998, to be considered. Copies of the proposed rules may be obtained from the same address. For access assistance, persons with disabilities may call the board at (605) 642-1600 before the hearing.

Executive Appointments:

Ronald W. Miekle, Sioux Falls, was appointed on January 22, 1998, Assistant Adjutant General, Air, effective August 1, 1998, and to continue until July 31, 1999.

Mac McCracken, Rapid City, was reappointed on January 26, 1998, to the South Dakota Building Authority, effective immediately and to continue until January 21, 2002.

Tom Graham, Sioux Falls, was reappointed on January 26, 1998, to the South Dakota Building Authority, effective immediately and to continue until January 18, 2000.

Daniel C. Cronin, Gettysburg, was appointed on January 26, 1998, to the State Board of Regents to replace Dr. Karl Wegner, effective March 31, 1998, and to continue until March 31, 2004.

Dean Sorenson, Sioux Falls, was reappointed on January 26, 1998, to the South Dakota Board of Directors for Educational Telecommunications, effective immediately and to continue until July 1, 1998.

Harry V. Peterson, Rapid City, was reappointed on January 26, 1998, to the Career Service Commission to replace Bill Adam, effective April 22, 1998, and to continue until April 22, 2002.

Steve Ellwein, Pierre, and Cynthia A. Frederick, Hayti, were appointed on January 26, 1998, to the State Fair Commission, to replace Charles Hoffman and Milo Rypkema, respectively, effective immediately and to continue until January 1, 2002.

Margaret J. Dahl, Rapid City, was appointed on January 26, 1998, to the South Dakota Board of Education to replace Jackie Jarrett, effective immediately and to continue until December 31, 1999.

Marilyn Hoyt, Huron, was reappointed on January 26, 1998, to the South Dakota Board of Education to replace Roger Lonbaken, effective immediately and to continue until December 31, 2001.

Glenna N. Fouberg, Aberdeen, was appointed on January 26, 1998, to the South Dakota Board of Education to replace Dr. Art Zimiga, effective immediately and to continue until December 31, 2001.

Adminstrative Rules:

DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES, pursuant to SDCL 1-36-20, adopted mandatory changes to eligibility requirements for medical assistance which provide payment of certain Medicare costs for individuals who are eligible for Medicare but whose income is at least 120 percent but less than 175 percent of the federal poverty level and who are not otherwise eligible for Medicaid, provide Medicaid eligibility to certain disabled children who lost their Supplemental Security Income benefits, and provide for a resource test for determining eligibility for pregnant women but not when determining eligibility for certain children, ARSD 67:46:01:02.
