NOTICES OF PROPOSED RULES: (The date in parentheses is the date the rules were filed in the Legislative Research Council)

Department of Game, Fish and Parks: (February 14, 2001) intends to adopt rules to clarify and provide that certain Missouri River refuges are open to duck hunting after the last day of the Canada goose season; change the name of Campbell County State Game Bird Refuge; repeal the Harry Bartron State Waterfowl Refuge in Codington County; change the description of boundaries of the Big Stone Power Plant Waterfowl Refuge; repeal the Mud Lake State Waterfowl Refuge in Roberts County; define a male turkey for hunting season and license type; change transportation requirements for waterfowl and turkeys; provide a pheasant hunting season for residents on certain public lands and contiguous road rights- of-way in advance of the regular pheasant season; modify the youth pheasant hunting season in areas of length of season, areas permitted to be hunted, accompaniment requirements, shooting hours, and daily bag and possession limits; and amend the waterfowl hunting season to modify the ending date of the Conservation Order for light geese. The general authority for these rules, as cited by the department is SDCL 41-2-18, 41-6-13, and 41-11-5.

A public hearing will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. (CST), at the Holiday Inn Express in Fort Pierre, South Dakota. Copies of the proposed rules may be obtained from and written comments sent to John L. Cooper, Secretary, Foss Building, 523 East Capitol Avenue, Pierre, South Dakota 57501, and must be received prior to the hearing date. Comments may also be sent by e-mail to chuck.schlueter@state.sd.us. E-mail comments must include the commenter's name and address.
