NOTICES OF PROPOSED RULES: (The date in parentheses is the date the rules were filed in the Legislative Research Council):

Department of Education and Cultural Affairs: South Dakota Board of Education: (February 18, 1999) is considering adoption of a school accreditation rule to eliminate references to the achievement test and to allow aptitude and interest assessment to be administered in either 8th or 9th grade. The general authority for these rules, as cited by the department, is SDCL 13-1-12.1.

A public hearing will be held in Room 200, Health/Science Center, Southeast Technical Institute, 2301 Career Place, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on March 15, 1999, at 1:15 p.m. (CST). Copies of the proposed rules may be obtained from and written comments sent to the South Dakota Board of Education, 700 Governors Drive, Pierre, South Dakota 57501-2291. Material sent by mail must be received by March 12, 1999. This hearing is being held in a physically accessible place. Persons who have special needs for which the department can make arrangements are asked to call (605) 773-3426 at least 48 hours before the hearing.

Department of Agriculture: South Dakota State Fair Commission: (March 2, 1999) is proposing rules to create a prepaid gate admission package and increase camping fees to include the cost of gate admission. The general authority for these rules, as cited by the department, is SDCL 1-21-10.

A public hearing will be held in the Commission Meeting Room, Administration Building, on the South Dakota State Fairgrounds, 890 Third Street SW, Huron, South Dakota, on March 22, 1999, at 10:00 a.m. (CST). Copies of the proposed rules may be obtained from and written comments sent to the South Dakota State Fair Office, 890 Third Street SW, Huron, South Dakota 57350-1275. Material sent by mail must be received by March 22, 1999. Persons who have special needs for which the department can make arrangements are asked to call (605) 353-7340 before the hearing.
